coudekerque-branche
In 1803, seven hundred barracks were built on the territory of Coudekerque-Branche to house the third division of the fourth army corps. For two years (1803-1805), General Gudin will continually have his infantry execute maneuvers to make them the elite corps of "The Immortal Gudin Division".

General Louis Thévenet (1770-1846), Mayor of Coudekerque-Branche, also covered himself with glory on several battlefields of the 1st Empire such as Austerlitz, Auerstedt and Eylau. The commune of Coudekerque-Branche is committed to highlighting the 1st Empire through multi-era Camps and exhibitions within the Jean-Vilar cultural complex which can accommodate exhibitions, conferences, assemblies,
the "Nature and Flanders Festival" takes place, with a regional dimension. Over the years it has become a tradition. Finally, Coudekerque-Branche belongs to the natural region of Blootland, characterised by a flat landscape and the presence of numerous controlled canals. Citadin, historical, cultural, commercial, coquettish, languid, Ajaccio also knows how to become active, lively, sporty and playful and when one moves away from it a little, one easily appreciates the richness and variety of the change of scenery it inspires.
