General Louis Thévenet (1770-1846), Mayor of Coudekerque-Branche, also covered himself with glory on several battlefields of the 1st Empire such as Austerlitz, Auerstedt and Eylau. The commune of Coudekerque-Branche is committed to highlighting the 1st Empire through multi-era Camps and exhibitions within the Jean-Vilar cultural complex which can accommodate exhibitions, conferences, assemblies,

the "Nature and Flanders Festival" takes place, with a regional dimension. Over the years it has become a tradition. Finally, Coudekerque-Branche belongs to the natural region of Blootland, characterised by a flat landscape and the presence of numerous controlled canals.
