On 17 and 18 February 2024, the historic re-enactment of the Battle of Montereau took place in Montereau-Fault-Yonne, France.
To mark the 210th anniversary of the Battle of Montereau, one of Napoleon's last military successes, the town of Montereau-Fault-Yonne organised a historical re-enactment to celebrate it. Thanks to 600 re-enactors from all over Europe who re-enacted the event 210 years later, the city was plunged back into the heart of the Empire. The event attracted several thousand spectators and offered an eclectic, family-friendly programme.
The Chairman of the European Federation of Napoleonic Cities Vincent Chauvetat the invitation of the town's mayor, took part in the event, where he gave a speech on the importance of Napoleonic history in the European context, highlighting the link with local history.
