Digging in the earth! Archaeology in the service of the Napoleonic period

Le Ligny 1815 Museum organised in partnership with the Napoleonic souvenir (Belgian Delegation) and the support of the Fondation Napoléonthe conference "Digging in the earth! Archaeology in the service of the Napoleonic period".

In the morning, themed conferences will give the floor to archaeologists working on the battlefields of the Napoleonic period. This is a unique opportunity for enthusiasts and the general public to find out about the latest archaeological discoveries at the Waterloo and Mont-Saint-Jean dig sites. The afternoon will be devoted to "Apprentis'Archéologues" workshops for younger visitors.

  • Date and time: 09 July 2023 from 9.30am to 5pm (morning lecture & afternoon archaeological workshops).
  • Venue: Ligny 1815 Museum, Rue Pont Piraux, 23, 5140 Ligny (Sombreffe, Belgium).
  • PAF: 5 euros (giving access to all lectures + workshops + visit to the museum) - Free for children under 12 and members of the Souvenir napoléonien as well as museum partners.
