On 10 April 2024, the city of Herceg Novi hosted a conference entitled "Napoleon's route: connecting cultural heritage in the Balkans", organised by the municipality in collaboration with the FECN–Destination Napoleon. The aim of the conference was to raise awareness of the Balkan route dating from the Napoleonic era, which connected Ljubljana to Kotor via Slovenia, Croatia and Montenegro, and to find solutions for enhancing and restoring this historic route in the long term.
Speakers included Professor Joško Belamarić, member of the Scientific committee of the FECN, Professor Ilija Lalošević, and doctors Goran Komar and Nebojša Rašo. Dobrila Vlahović, Director General of the Directorate for Cultural Heritage at the Ministry of Culture and Media, mountaineer Saša Kulinović, who is responsible for the region's cultural heritage, and Danilo Mrvaljević, Director of the State Archives of Montenegro, also took part in this constructive dialogue.
