To celebrate its membership of the European Federation of Napoleonic Cities, the municipality of Ancona, Italy, organised three Napoleonic Days from 20 to 22 June 2025..
From 20 to 22 June 2025, the town of’Ancona celebrated its accession to the European Federation of Napoleonic Cities - Destination Napoleon. For three days, the city was the venue for historical dances, guided tours exploring the history and Napoleonic sites of Ancona, and a themed discussion led by Professor Luigi Mascilli Migliorini, a member of the FECN Scientific Committee.
The city's accession ceremony took place on 22 June 2025 at the Loggia dei Mercanti in the presence of: Eleonora Berti, Director of the FECN, Daniele Silvetti, Mayor of Ancona; Daniele Berardinelli, Deputy Mayor for Tourism in Ancona; Marta Paraventi, Deputy Mayor for Culture in Ancona; and Carlo Ciccioli, Member of the European Parliament. The Chairman of the FECNVincent Chauvet, and honorary president, Charles Bonaparte, took part in the event via video link.
The signing of the membership certificate was followed by a technical meeting on possible strategies for cooperation between FECN-Destination Napoleon and the municipality of Ancona, at which Mitar Kisjelica, Under-Secretary for Social Affairs and International Cooperation for the city of’Herceg Novi, Emanuela Panke, chair of the cultural route certified by the Council of Europe Iter Vitis-Trails of the vineRoberto Ciambetti, member of the European Committee of the Regionsand Simone Percacciolo, who is responsible for promoting Palazzo Reale, Milan. The meeting concluded with the signing of a memorandum between the mayor of Ancona and the mayor of Herceg Novi, with a view to establishing cooperation between the two towns.
Finally, a round table discussion moderated by Sergio Sparapani, journalist, Luigi Mascilli Migliorini and Josko Belamaric, members of the scientific committee of the Federation, highlighted the importance of Napoleonic history along the Adriatic coast.
