The forum of European Federation of Napoleonic Cities-Destination Napoleon took place on 6 and 7 May at Palazzo Reale, Milan

On 6 and 7 May, the first Italian forum on European Federation of Napoleonic CitiesDestination Napoleon, organized in collaboration with the Directorate of Palazzo Reale of Milan and the Centro di Documentazione Residenze Reali Lombarde. The day of the 6th was dedicated to the conference Archives and Libraries. From Napoleonic history to the telling of it.

Participants were welcomed by students from the “Adriano Olivetti” vocational institute in Monza.

Around fifty people attended the many interesting and high-quality talks given by the heads of the most important Italian and European archives and libraries. The words of Charles Bonaparte, founder and honorary president of the Federation, and Professor Luigi Mascigli Migliorini, member of the Federation's Scientific Committee, underlined the extent to which Napoleon's personality is still capable of conveying contemporary European messages and values.

The round table, moderated by Roberto Race, a member of the Federation's Scientific Committee, highlighted the communication and marketing potential of Napoleon and Napoleonic history, particularly in Italy.

The conference was an initial opportunity for archives and libraries to exchange practices and experiences, and highlighted the Federation's role as a tool for activating synergies and collaboration between territories at national and European level.

On 7 May, the Centro di Documentazione Residenze Reali Lombarde offered a tour of the park, gardens and groves of the Villa Reale Monza, the summer residence of Eugène de Beauharnais, and the Duomo, where the Iron Crown with which Napoleon was crowned King of Italy in 1805 is kept.
