ARCHIVES AND LIBRARIES - FROM NAPOLEONIC HISTORY TO THE TELLING OF IT

The symposium organised by the European Federation of Napoleonic Cities, the Directorate of Palazzo Reale and the Centro di Documentazione Residenze Reali Lombardeexplores the importance of archives and libraries in the telling and transmission of the history of the Napoleonic era.

Tommaso Sacchi, Deputy Mayor for Culture, will open the proceedings, along with Domenico Piraina, Director of the Palazzo Reale in Milan, Vincent Chauvet, President of the Cultural Route Destination Napoleon of the Council of Europe, Charles Bonaparte, founder of the European Federation of Napoleonic Cities and of the Destination Napoleon itinerary, and Marina Rosa, President of the Documentation Centre of the Royal Residences of Lombardy.

The round table, coordinated by Roberto Race, an expert in corporate strategy and communications, will focus on the importance of Napoleonic history and its transmission, with the participation of Charles Bonaparte, the President of Museimpresa and the Fondazione Assolombarda Antonio Calabrò, journalist and writer Sergio Valzania, film director Giovanni Piscaglia, author of the film Napoleon in the name of artThe event will be attended by the city of Milan's deputy mayor for culture, Tommaso Sacchi, the director of the Destination Napoleon itinerary and an expert in European cultural policies, Eleonora Berti, and the historian specialising in the Napoleonic era, professor of contemporary history at the Università Orientale in Naples and member of the Destination Napoleon scientific committee, Luigi Mascilli Migliorini.

The heads of the most important archives and libraries will be the protagonists of the day: from Jörg Ebeling, from the German Centre for Art History in Paris, to Elisabeth Caude, director of the Château de la Malmaison Museum, Paolo Rondelli, head of the San Marino State Archives, Carmela Santoro, from the Milan State Archives, Monica Guerracino, for the Lucca Archives, Monja Faraoni, from the Cosway Archives in Lodi, Gloria Peria, director of associated management at the Municipal Archives of Elba, Francesca Sandrini, from the Glauco Lombardi Museum in Parma, and for the Milanese institutions Marzia Dina Pontone, from the National Library of Braidense, Alessandra Mignatti, from the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, Isabella Marelli, from the Brera Art Gallery, and Simone Percacciolo, from the Palazzo Reale.
