Death of Krzysztof Ostrowski

Krzysztof Ostrowski, EFNEC General Assembly 2019 - Destination Napoleon

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death on 25 February of our friend Krzysztof Ostrowski, Vice-Rector of the University of Pultusk, Poland.

Involved for several decades in the teaching of history at the University and in the enhancement of the Napoleonic heritage in Poland, he had played an important role in the creation of the European Federation of Napoleonic Cities in 2004. The Italian-Polish European project: Napoleon, not just the war, in which he participated with Italian municipalities from Liguria, served as a crucible for the creation of the Federation.

Since then, he had not ceased to put his historical knowledge and his relations at the service of the Federation. In particular, he organised our 2007 General Assembly in Pultusk. He regularly participated in our annual General Assemblies and in our Board of Directors until last November.

He was a humanist and an active supporter of Europe.

He is a friend and a valuable member of our network who has left us. On behalf of the Federation, and in a personal capacity, I would like to extend my deepest condolences to his family.

Charles Bonaparte, President of the European Federation of Napoleonic Cities.
