The FECN takes part in the 14ᵉ Forum of the Council of Europe Cultural Routes in Cappadocia

The European Federation of Napoleonic Cities (FECN) took part in the Council of Europe's 14ᵉ Cultural Routes Consultative Forum, held from 22 to 24 October 2025 in Nevşehir, in the heart of Cappadocia.

The theme of this annual event is «Cultural routes and landscapes: protecting heritage through sustainable cultural tourism», Over 300 participants from all over the continent attended the event.

A Forum at the heart of the European landscape

Co-organised by the European Institute of Cultural Routes, the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Council of Europe, the Forum explored the links between landscape, collective memory and sustainability.

Conferences, panels and workshops highlighted the role of the routes as levers for cultural resilience and heritage education.

Destination Napoléon, a committed player

The FECN, represented by its director Eleonora Berti, who is also President of the French Federation of European Cultural Routes, took an active part in the meetings and thematic sessions, particularly during the discussions on links between heritage and regional development and presenting the work carried out by the FFICE to facilitate synergies, raise the profile of routes and encourage the exchange of practices.

The presence of the Fédération illustrates its role in promoting a responsible cultural tourism and a dialogue between peoples through Napoleonic history.

New European partnerships

Alongside the Forum, several bilateral meetings have opened up new perspectives:

  • Malta, interested in joining the Itinerary, will meet with Charles Bonaparte at the Birgu seminar; ;
  • Greece, Croatia, Cyprus and Sweden have expressed an interest in working with the Federation; ;
  • l’European Association of Tour Guides proposed to co-organise themed webinars to promote the Itinerary.

A renewed commitment

Through his involvement in Cappadocia, the FECN reaffirms its commitment to the European programme and its role as a driving force in the development of a a living, shared heritage.

Set against the exceptional backdrop of UNESCO-listed volcanic landscapes, the Federation is continuing its efforts to promote a more equitable and sustainable use of natural resources. sustainable, educational and European tourism.
