
The 29 and 30 October 2025the city of Birgu (Malta) will host the seminar Malta in the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe, organised by the Maltese Ministry of Culture as part of the Malta's chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.
This major event will bring together representatives from Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe, and local authorities to strengthen cooperation between European cultural networks.
A European dialogue on heritage
The meeting will provide an opportunity to share experience and best practice in relation to the Cultural Routes programme, which was set up to promote heritage, citizenship and cultural diversity in Europe.
Speeches by experts and route managers, including the Via Francigena, Iter Vitis or the Route des Mégalithes, These will highlight the tangible benefits of these networks for local areas.
Destination Napoléon, a committed player in the European network
The European Federation of Napoleonic Cities - carrier of the route Destination Napoléon - will be taking an active part in the seminar, represented by Charles Bonaparte, and by Alexander Debono, member of the Scientific Committee, theorist and innovator in the field of museums, and Academician of Malta.
The presentations will illustrate the way in which the Napoleonic legacy is contributing to a new way of thinking. a shared European memory, It also shows how Maltese history fits into this pan-European context.
A gateway to Malta
Following this meeting a working meeting with Maltese partners will be organised, with a view to the island's future integration into the network. A symbolic step for a project that places the cultural cooperation and dialogue between peoples at the heart of contemporary Europe.
