Val de Louyre and Caudeau: Imperial Days and membership ceremony

The official ceremony to welcome the municipality of Val de Louyre and Caudeaumember of the European Federation of Napoleonic Cities and Destination Napoleon since 2024, took place on 7 June 2025 in the presence of Vincent ChauvetPresident of the FECN, Philippe Ducène, Mayor of Val de Louyre et Caudeau, and Baudoin de Witt, President of the Friends of the FECN. The ceremony was followed by a convivial lunch to the tune of the Chant du Départ, the French national anthem from 1804.

The event is part of the Journées impériales, a major historical re-enactment organised by theGreater Périgueux Intercommunal Tourist Office. For two days, on 7 and 8 June, visitors were able to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the First Empire, with live performances such as historical dances and cavalry demonstrations, craft and gourmet villages, and guided tours of the Napoleon Museum, to help as many people as possible discover this rich local heritage.
