The opening of the exhibition Plon-Plon, un Bonaparte rouge et or will take place in Ajaccio on 23 June, organised by the Palais Fesch-Musée des Beaux-Arts d'Ajaccio.

For the first time, the modern art collection of Napoléon Joseph Charles Bonaparte (1822-1891), son of Jérôme Bonaparte and cousin of Napoléon III, will be presented to the public. Visitors will learn about his role in French artistic life, as a patron of the arts and as chairman of the commission for the first Universal Exhibition to be held in France in 1855.

The exhibition will evoke his links with artists, actresses, writers and intellectuals (Sand, Dumas, Proudhon, Renan, etc.), his passion for archaeology, and will show how his intellectual curiosity was expressed during his many expeditions.
