The UNWTO declared the world's best tourist villages on 19 October 2023 at its General Assembly in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
The World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) has included Slunj in the list of the world's best tourist villages as an outstanding rural tourist destination with recognised cultural and natural assets, a commitment to preserving community values and a clear commitment to innovation and sustainability in the economic, social and ecological dimensions.
One of the activities recognised by the UNWTO for the municipality of Slunj was membership of the European Federation of Napoleonic CitiesSlunj not only preserves its history, but also promotes modern connectivity, ensuring that it remains an attractive destination for locals and travellers alike.
