Performance by the Milan Symphony Orchestra of theEroica, This symphony, written by Beethoven between 1803 and 1804, was originally dedicated to Napoleon Bonaparte and was intended to reflect the grandeur of his era. The performance will be preceded by a reading of the ode Il Cinque Maggiowritten by Alessandro Manzoni in 1821 to mark the death of Napoleon Bonaparte.

The concert is the first symbolic closing event of the bicentenary of the death of Napoleon in Italy. It is organised by the Verdi Orchestra of Milan, the Italian Bicentenary Committee and the Documentation Centre of the Royal Residences of Lombardy.
