Napoleon - this biscuit is made in the style of the French mille-feuille - a dessert consisting of three layers of puff pastry with cream or jam. The source of the mille-feuille is given, among others, in Naples. In French, the adjective "napolitain" is said to be Neapolitan, and probably by distortion of the word, this dessert and its derivatives are called in European countries "napoleons", "napoleoniens" etc., which is supposed to refer to Napoli. - which is supposed to refer to Napoleon Bonaparte.
