The opening ceremony of the 56th Mimosa Festival in Herceg Novi was marked by a rich programme and a massive turnout, making for a grand celebration of this festival dedicated to the famous mimosa flower.
Among the distinguished guests was the President of the Fédération Européenne des Cités Napoléonièennes - Destination Napoleon, who attended the opening concert, took part in the traditional mimosa harvest and joined in the grand masked ball. On this occasion, Vincent Chauvet, President of the FECN, presented the President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović, and the Minister of Culture and Media, Tamara Vujović, with the projects that Napoleon Destination is implementing in cooperation with the municipality of Herceg Novi.
In gratitude for the warm hospitality, special recognition goes to the mayor of Herceg Novi, Stevan Katić, whose dedicated efforts to preserve the tradition of the mimosa festival are evident in the impressive number of visitors - tens of thousands.
In honour of the visit by the President of the Federation, the organisers also welcomed President Vincent Chauvet to the traditional flower show, where he shared with participants the fascinating story of the arrival of the mimosa flower in Europe.
