The European Federation of Napoleonic Cities welcomed me as an intern for just over three months. This period, this internship, was a real life experience, and having already worked for 14 years, I wasn't expecting it at all. However, as the months went by, I discovered the Destination Napoléon Cultural Route and the workings of a Federation, whose aim is to promote a shared heritage, while highlighting the specific aspects of each culture and each country. For me, having grown up in different countries surrounded by different cultures, histories and languages, it's a real pleasure to be able to approach heritage in this way. I would like to thank Eleonora Berti and Vincent Chauvet for giving me this opportunity.

Within the FECN, I took part in the realisation of European and national projects, but above all I was able to take the time to get to know one of the members of the Federation. The Rota Histórica das Linhas de Torres Association, welcomed me to Torres Vedras, Portugal, for three months. I was able to work closely with them and learn about their territory, how they operate and the impressive historic monument that they preserve and develop. With its 152 forts, I unfortunately didn't have the time to visit the entire Torres Line, but thanks to the support of the Torres Vedras municipality, I was able to understand the impact of this line of defence on the area and its history. Of the 8 municipalities that make up the Rota Histórica das Linhas de Torres association, I was able to meet professionals from the municipalities of Mafra, Loures, Vila Franca de Xira, Arruda dos Vinhos, Sobral de Monte Agraço, Torres Vedras and Lourinhã. All these meetings enabled me to discover the activities, projects, objectives and certain events of the RHLT association.

I would like to thank the entire "Rota Histórica das Linhas de Torres" association for hosting me during my work placement as a member of the FECN, and in particular Marta Fortuna and Paulo Ferreira, who accompanied me during my 3-month stay.

The understanding I have gained of the RHLT association makes it easier for me to envisage joint projects or possible links between members. This is why the Federation will continue to offer its members the opportunity to host one of the members of the FECN team, with the aim of refining our exchanges and establishing a more solid relationship between the Fédération Européenne des Cités Napoléoniennes and its members.
