
For the National Architecture Days celebrated in France on 18 and 19 October 2024, the Community of Pontivy has organised two events dedicated to the footsteps of Napoleonvillethe name the town adopted and lost several times during the 19th century.
Situated in the heart of Brittany, Pontivy is a town with an important strategic location. At the beginning of the 19th century, the town underwent a major urban renewal programme initiated by Napoleon I. This redevelopment, characterised by a well-defined geometric plan, was intended to reflect the revolutionary ideals of rationality, order and efficiency. This is still evident today in the city's long central thoroughfares.
